Photography Internships

Akron Life magazine and akronlife.com are currently seeking a photography intern. We are looking for an energetic and detail-oriented individual. Candidates should have proficient knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and strong work ethic. InDesign and web knowledge a plus. The photography intern will have the opportunity to gain experience in the publishing industry, and work closely with editors and designers on the magazine. The ideal candidate will work well under deadline pressure to perform routine and complex duties for Akron Life magazine and related products.

This is an unpaid, part-time internship. Scheduling and hours are flexible.

The ideal candidate MUST be able to follow instructions, respond professionally to critiques and function well in a highly collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and complete photo assignments given by department members
  • Retouch and color correct images
  • Photo research
  • Archive files and artwork
  • Scan images for print
  • Resize and upload images for the web

Requirements:

  • College student working toward a degree in photography or equivalent field
  • Knowledge of digital photography and retouching is a must
  • Must own a working professional quality camera
  • Knowledge of MacOS, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office applications
  • Must have a reliable form of transportation, as local travel within The 330 will be a part of the internship
  • Must take direction and assert ideas quickly
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail necessary in order to handle a number of projects simultaneously
  • Must work well in a deadline-driven environment
