The financial success of our Early Bird Bustle Family Fun Run/Walk will enable us to make a positive impact in the ever-growing concern of childhood obesity through our community project Kids in the Kitchen. The Kids in the Kitchen program is designed to help communities address the urgent issues surrounding childhood obesity and poor nutrition. Educating both children and their families is key to alleviating this growing problem.
The Early Bird Bustle is a stepping-stone to promote child health and wellness by empowering children and youth to make healthy lifestyle choices early on, therefore preventing obesity and its associated health risks. Following the Family Fun Run/Walk, we will be hosting a Family Activities Fair with various community partners. This fun-filled day will feature educational displays, exercise stations, hands-on learning, face painting, crafts and more. We will also be collecting non-perishable food items for the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank.
Please join us in raising awareness about this epidemic and in the fight to ensure a healthy life for the kids of our community. For further information or questions please contact the Junior League of Akron office at (330) 836-4905.
