The community celebrated 40 years of musical memories at E.J. Thomas Hall with a fantastic 40 & Fabulous Gala, Nov. 1. VIPs were treated to an open bar and creative hors d’oeuvres in the Goodrich Lobby, while Sarah Kaufman entertained the crowd with piano favorites.
Following the VIP reception, guests settled in for a concert performed by Michael Cavanaugh, his band and the fantastic Akron Symphony Orchestra, led by Christopher Wilkins. Cavanaugh, who starred in “Movin’ Out” on Broadway, performed the music of Billy Joel, Elton John, Neil Diamond, Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon, James Taylor and other great singer-songwriters.
After the show, VIPs received a Michael Cavanaugh CD and an exclusive E.J. Thomas tote bag designed by Akron artist Don Drumm. Guests toasted E.J.’s anniversary with champagne and gourmet mini cupcakes.
