Dill Delight: Akron Pickle Fest

Test your skills in a greased pickle-tossing competition, a pickle-eating speed challenge and more in the Picklelympics during the fourth annual Akron Pickle Fest Aug. 9 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Lock 3 Park. A collaboration between Oddmall — a unique art gallery and series of shows — and Akron Pickle, Pickle Fest is the perfect place to get a little silly. Attend the All Day DIY Pickle-Packing Party and choose from myriad veggies, spices and flavored brines for your own custom jar. Also shop for quality, handmade products from over 50 vendors, like the Akron-based Local Honey Glass. Enjoy an artisanal Henry’s Creamery ice cream, a black bean and roasted corn quesadilla from Avo-rrito and more. “Pickles are weird, awesome and delicious,” says Oddmall’s “Chief Oddball” Andy Hopp. “It seems like the perfect combination of unusual art, unusual food, unusual entertainment and wholesome family fun.”
