’Tis the Season: Keep these tips in mind while filing taxes this year

United Way offers tax help for those who need it: 

• Check if you qualify for United Way of Summit and Medina’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, which can save you money on tax preparation. 
• Wait for your tax return — don’t take out a loan to get it immediately. 
• Be aware that if you received the child tax credit last year, your tax return may be smaller than normal, since you’ve already received part of it. 
• Make sure you file by April 18.
