At The Movies co-host to make rare stop in Akron

Those looking for a little bit of film education next week should head on down to the Akron-Summit County Public Library. Ignatiy Vishnevetsky, co-host of Ebert Presents: At the Movies on PBS, will be on hand to discuss the “Future of Movies” for all in attendance.

Vishnevetsky appearance on Wednesday, May 9 at 7 p.m. will be part of the library's ongoing author series featuring prominent voices from the world of literature, arts, politics and journalism.

Vishnevetsky is a film critic for the online film site Mubi.com. His writing has covered movies from the silent era to present day work. For the last year, he has co-hosted Ebert Presents: At the Movies with Christy Lemire. He also contributes to the likes of The Chicago Reader and CINE-FILE.

The program will include a multimedia presentation covering the medium of cinema and where the future will take us. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session, in which film aficionados will have a chance to dive into cinema discussions.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place in the Main Library Auditorium at 60 S. High St. in downtown Akron. Doors open at 6:30.
