Beer Yourself at the International Beer Fest This Weekend

by

This Friday and Saturday, the IX Center will be converted into the Oz of beer. "A sip sip here, and a sip sip there..." With the International Beer Festival bringing over 200 brewers into town, you can leave behind your ruby slippers, Kansas and your little dog too.

....IPA, Porter, Bock, Lager, Barrel-Aged Strong Ale, Dopple Bock, Stout, Barley Wine, Ale, Triple IPA, Wood-Aged Strong Beer, Japanese Sake-Yeast Beer, Scottish Ale, Rye Beer, Tripple Bock, White Ale, Pale Strong Ale, Wheat Beer, Amber Ale, Wood-Aged Sour Beer, Double IPA, Fruit Lambic....etc....

800 beers to taste from. No joke. If this blog were packaging for a product, right here is where the Surgeon General's Warning would appear: "Consuming 800 beers may cause you to become happy, lightheaded, giddy, forgetful, unlikeable or even an @ssh0le." Consider yourself warned.

I sincerely enjoy good beer. I'd like to think I have somewhat of a respectable beer vocabulary. I've graduated from beer pre-school (Mike's Hard Lemonade, Natty Light, Bud Light), beer kindergarten (Miller Lite, Milwaukee's Beast, Coors), beer middle-school (Rolling Rock, Heineken), beer high-school (Guinness, Warsteiner, Samuel Adams, ) and beer university (Great Lakes, Chimay, Founder's, Hoppin' Frog, No Name Bitter and Lagunita's). With that said, this weekend will be my beer PhD. I'm so excited to present my thesis!

Over the course of the two-day dehydration fest, three public tasting sessions will be held, giving attendees a full range of craft beers to explore and sink their teeth into. From barrel-aged beers on the Main Stage to stouts and porters at Brew U, triple IPA’s and rauchbiers at the VIP Brewers Lounge to surprise pairings in the Tasting Room, nearly every imaginable combination of hops and barley will have an opportunity to meet up with some very happy taste buds.

The Festival runs this Friday, May 13th through Saturday night, May 14th.
