The Black Keys' fathers to guest DJ on Akron's The Summit

WAPS The Summit 91.3FM, the music intensive, locally supported public radio station, is inviting Chuck Auerbach and James Carney (fathers of The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney) into the studio for Life and Lyrics with Bill Hall.

Life and Lyrics is a locally-produced radio program hosted by Summit on-air personality Bill Hall. Guests of the program have the opportunity to share their favorite music, stories and the impact those songs had on their lives.

"Chuck and Jim are both active members of the Akron community, arts supporters and music aficionados in their own right," said Summit Music Director Liz Mozzocco. "But we also know that the artists they played in their homes when Dan and Pat were growing up were influential on the Black Keys' sound. We're excited to hear about the songs that matter to Chuck and Jim, hear more about their lives and welcome them to the Summit studios."

Chuck Auerbach is a folk art dealer and songwriter; he penned the lyrics to "Whispered Words (Pretty Lies)" on Dan Auerbach's solo record Keep It Hid.  James Carney is a staff writer at the Akron Beacon Journal. Chuck and James are neighbors and have supported Dan and Patrick throughout their musical career, from their early days recording in an Akron basement to the band's recent Grammy wins.

Chuck Auerbach will be on Life and Lyrics with Bill Hall this Sunday, March 3rd. James Carney will be the Life and Lyrics guest on Sunday, March 10th. Life and Lyrics airs every Sunday from 8 to 8:30 am on 91.3FM in Akron and 90.7FM in Struthers/Youngstown.
