Best of Akron: Best Massage

Just two years young, Gavin Scott Salon and Spa in Stow already has a loyal following. The upscale salon with the laid back feel earned first place in our reader poll for Best Massage. It also came in second in the Women’s Hair Salon and Facial categories.

What’s their secret? Co-owners Anne Davis and Kristie Warner say they made a conscious decision to keep services affordable without skimping on extras. They treat customers to a complimentary hand and arm massage, complimentary head massages with shampoos and snacks like fresh peanuts and candy.

“We believe the more you give, the more you get,” Warner says.

Gavin Scott’s massage therapist is available Monday and Wednesday evenings and Saturdays by appointment. One-hour, full-body massages are $40. Sports massages (90 minutes) are $75, and pregnancy massages are $65.

Relaxation facials are their customers’ most popular choice for pampering. The salon also made Fox 8’s “Hot List” for best color this year. —Jane Day
