Going Green

Rockynol has long been known for its concern for quality that quite naturally extends to the quality of our environment. With nearly 550 residents and staff generating questions regarding recycling and offering suggestions on how to go green—it just wasn’t a difficult choice. We’re ‘Going Green!’

It does not need to be costly or difficult—it is the little day-to-day acts that make an impact on the environment.

We began by switching to energy-saving fluorescent light bulbs. They save many dollars over time, and residents enjoy the additional brightness they produce as well. As health care professionals, we know the importance of drinking a lot of water. Checking our trash, we found many empty plastic water bottles. Rockynol installed water stations throughout the campus and now encourages everyone to use refillable drinking cups saving mounds of plastic in local landfills.

Imagine the amount of paper products (i.e. countless cardboard boxes) discarded daily across our campus. And we were paying someone to have it hauled away! Now, going green means we are being paid for recycling our own paper products. Residents living in our Independent Apartments also recycle their glass, aluminum and plastic.

If you have any questions on how to begin going green, please call Diane Walker at Rockynol at 330-867-2150.
