Untapped: Chocolate Oak Aged Yeti

by

>> Arguably one of the best beers made from the world’s favorite dessert comes from Denver’s Great Divide Brewery. Chocolate Oak Aged Yeti is an Imperial Stout that overflows with the taste of cocoa nibs, coffee and just the right amount of roastiness.

The beer is part of a series from the acclaimed brewery, which includes such offerings as Espresso Oak Aged Yeti, Barrel Aged Yeti and Belgian Style Yeti.

Raised by a family that appreciated good food and drink, Great Divide founder Brian Dunn expanded his knowledge and passion for beer during his early travels around the world. Upon completing graduate school in 1993, he set out to establish what would eventually become one of America’s most decorated and celebrated craft breweries. With financial help from family, friends and a loan from the city of Denver, his dream of brewing commercially became a reality in 1994.

In the beginning, Dunn was the only full-time employee: brewing, bottling and selling to accounts all in the same day. By 2001, his crew moved into an old dairy processing plant, and what followed was exponential growth over a decade.

With a 100-percent rating on Ratebeer.com, Chocolate Oak Aged Yeti packs a heavy and effective dose of chocolate-y goodness you won’t easily forget.

This brew can be found in 22-ounce bottles for a retail price of $10.99 at most fine beer establishments throughout Northeast Ohio and, on occasion, on draft at your local craft beer pub. So forget about that box of chocolates, and give your sweetheart what he or she really wants: Chocolate Oak Aged Yeti.

/ Writer Aaron Fowler is a bit of craft beer geek. Though he may deem himself a bonafide hophead, he never passes up a well-defined stout.
