Bitters /bi-tərz/ noun: liquor that is infused with the sharp, pungent flavors of plant extracts and is used as an additive for cocktails.

Jigger /dʒi-gər/ noun: a unit of liquid measure, typically 1.5 U.S. ounces. The term is also used to refer to the hourglass-shaped, stainless steel cups used to measure the liquids for mixed drinks. Usually, the larger portion of the hourglass holds one jigger, while the smaller portion holds half a jigger.

Malting /mȏl-tiə/ noun: the process by which cereal grains are made to germinate, or sprout, by soaking in water, then dried with hot air. The process develops the enzymes necessary to convert the grain’s starches into fermentable sugars before they can be used in production of beer or other alcoholic beverages.

Muddle /mŭ-dəl/ verb: 1. To mix together, especially confusedly. 2. To mix a drink or the ingredients of a drink, especially with a muddler.

Muddler /mŭ-dlər/ noun: 1. A small pestle-like baton used to prepare mixed drinks.
