Trailhead Brewery to open across the street from Akronlife

There is a new brewery headed to Akron, and it happens to be located right across the street from the Akronlife Magazine offices in Merriman Valley.

The new nanobrewery, Trailhead Brewery, will turn the storefront plaza into a brewery and taproom in the coming months. Homebrewer Eli Smart recently told Akron Beacon Journal's Rick Armon that he likes a lot of flavor in his beers and plans to start things off with an India pale ale, a Belgian-style dark strong ale, an imperial pilsner, a stout and a wheat beer, all of which will be filtered.

Trailhead Brewery will brew beer in small batches, with his custom brewing equipment allowing a maximum of three barrels per beer at a time. Smart also told Armon that he hopes to offer cask-conditions ales from a firkin on Thursdays sometime down the road.

Unfortunately, no official opening date has been announced as Trailhead Brewery is still awaiting state and federal approvals. Keep an eye out at akronlife.com for more information.
