Akron Life Magazine is currently seeking creative interns to assist with both our print publication and AkronLife.com. We are looking for energetic, detail-oriented individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in the publishing industry.
This internship offers the opportunity to work closely with editors, designers and the creative department on a variety of projects spanning photography, design, illustration and digital media.
This is an unpaid, part-time internship. Scheduling and hours are flexible.
What You’ll Do
Depending on your strengths (photography, design, illustration or a mix), responsibilities may include:

Designing magazine features and monthly sections

Creating infographics
-
Designing ads and magazine collateral
-
Assisting with website design and management
-
Scheduling, attending, and assisting photoshoots
-
Retouching and color correcting images
-
Photo research and archiving files/artwork
-
Scanning images for print
-
Resizing and uploading images for the web
-
Assisting sales representatives
Interns will work under deadlines and collaborate closely with editors and the creative director on both routine and complex creative projects.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate:
-
Is a college student (preferably entering junior or senior year) or recent graduate pursuing a degree in graphic design, illustration, photography or a related field

Has strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite

Has experience with page design and/or digital photography and retouching

Owns a professional-quality camera (recommended but not required)
-
Is comfortable working on MacOS and Microsoft Office applications

Has strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Works well in a deadline-driven environment

Responds professionally to critiques

Follows instructions carefully while confidently contributing ideas

Functions well in a highly collaborative environment

Has reliable transportation, as local travel within The 330 may be required
