Free event celebrates World Tai Chi and Qigong Day at Akron’s Lock 3 on April 28:
People of all ages are invited to “join the global wave of healing energy” during Akron’s participation in World Tai Chi and Qigong Day 2012. The free local event takes place on Saturday, April 28, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Lock 3 in downtown Akron.
Now in its fourth year, co-sponsored by the City of Akron and NG Energy, this event features a free community wellness program teaching the breathing and movement exercises of Tai Chi and Qigong. The program will be led by NG Energy's Nancy Gardner, certified Tai Chi and Qigong instructor.
This local event ties in with those being held in all 50 U.S. states and in cities of more than 65 nations on April 28. The mission of the global event is to raise awareness of the benefits of Tai Chi and Qigong and to promote health and healing in individuals, communities and nations.
The two-hour, interactive local event is suitable for adults of all ages and physical abilities, and children old enough to take direction. Participants are asked to bring lawn chairs for this outdoor program. (In the event of inclement weather, it will be moved indoors at Lock 3 Commons.)
